In honor of CS ED week, we are here to talk about some of the greatest computer scientists who have changed computer science for the better. For example, Grace Hopper was a prominent computer scientist in the 50’s and 60’s where she designed one of the first computer compilers, which translates programmer instructions into code. She later enlisted in the Navy to become a Lieutenant, and she created programming languages that the Navy still uses today. One of her notable accomplishments was teaching all the young people she trained over the years. Today, her designs and creations are still prominently used in computer science, and the modern computers we use today might’ve not been as functional without her help. Also, don’t forget on Thursday Girls Who Code will set up games and prizes in the Atrium!
