This past weekend, RB competed at the 49th annual IHSA State Chess Championships, the biggest high school competition for any activity in Illinois and one of the biggest in the country, with 129 teams and over 1500 students.

The Bulldogs were ranked 75th and had seven very tough rounds over the two-day tournament, finishing with two wins and a tie. Three of our four losses came down to the final two boards.

First-year Senior Adrian Sanchez clinched the tie in the final round with a come-from-behind victory with just 11 seconds left in the match!  Senior Karl Demegillo led the team with 5 wins, Sophomore David Gugliciello had four wins and a draw, and Senior John Free had 3 wins and 2 draws.  Adrian had three wins and a draw and Junior Quentin Rohner added two wins and a draw. Good job Bulldogs!

Please continue to collect your pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House!  The Student Association will have its annual pop tops contest in April.

And the next Blood Drive is Wednesday, February 22, please mark your calendars.  More information on this is at the beginning of February.  Thank you!
