All-School Testing Day: April 16, 2024

This is a reminder regarding the state-mandated April 16th SAT with Essay, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9 exams for all current grades 9-11 students at RBHS. All exams will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16. Senior students will not attend school on April 16.

It is important to note that all junior students are required to sit for this exam in order to satisfy Illinois state graduation requirements. All sophomore and freshman students are required to sit for the exam by the state of Illinois. There is no need to register your student, regardless of grade level, or pay for any exam fees. All students have been registered automatically.

All students and families should review the important information below to prepare for this exam:

  • IMPORTANT: Students are required to use their school-issued AND fully-charged Chromebook for the exam.
    • Students with lost Chromebooks or Chromebooks in disrepair should immediately contact the IT department to service their device.
  • Students should plan to bring...
    • A pen or pencil to write on scratch paper.
    • A calculator. If they do not bring a calculator, one is available within the Digital SAT Bluebook testing app.
    • A snack and/or drink for the exam, to be stored under the chair.
  • Students will not need access to a College Board student account to take the exam. Students will receive Test Day Tickets with their login information based on the information supplied to College Board.
  • Students should not bring the following items on testing day as these items are strictly prohibited and will result in the automatic cancellation of a student’s score...
    • Cell phones.
    • Smart watches.
    • Personal computers.
    • Any other internet-capable device (with the exception of the school-issued Chromebook).
  • All accommodations will be provided through the testing application, including extended time, screen readers, and the ability to pause the time if a student is approved for extra or extended breaks accommodations.

Students should plan to eat a nutritious breakfast prior to their exams that morning. Please note, the student cafeteria will be open for breakfast prior to exams, though it will be closed for lunch that day. As stated above, all students are encouraged to bring a snack and/or water for the exam, to be stored under their chair.

The total testing time of the SAT with Essay is 3 hours and 24 minutes. Taking into account technology checks, proctor instructions, and submission confirmation, we expect all junior students to be released sometime around noon.

The total testing time of the PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 exams is 2 hours and 24 minutes. Taking into account technology checks, proctor instructions, and submission confirmation, we expect all sophomore and freshman students to be released sometime around 11:00 a.m.
