Emma Lopez

Involvement inside and outside of RB
At RB, I'm involved in the Organization of Latin American Students, Clarion, Girls Who Code, Cybersecurity Club, and Girl Up. Outside of RB, I'm involved in Codifica + Code, GirlCon, and iFeminist.

Why were you interested in becoming a Student Advisor to the Board of Education?
I was interested in the Student Advisor position because, during my freshman year, I met one of the Student Advisors at the time through one of the activities I was involved in. I even had the chance to interview her about the position, and that made me all the more intrigued by the role. Since then, I have made it one of my goals to become one of the Student Advisors to the District 208 Board of Education.

What are you most looking forward to in this role?
I'm most looking forward to representing the greater student body here at RB. I can't wait to further engage with the RB community through clubs, activities, and events to highlight the distinct perspectives present at this school. RB is such a diverse school and I want to share as many viewpoints as I can every time I speak in a Board meeting.

Olivia Lopez

Involvement inside and outside of RB
At RB, I am the editor-in-chief for the school's newspaper "Clarion," as well as the director of communications for National Honor Society. I participate in clubs such as OLAS and AST as of now, but I also used to participate in Model United Nations as well. Over break, I also attended a summer program for the New York Times where I learned more skills regarding writing and editing in journalism.

Why were you interested in becoming a Student Advisor to the Board of Education?
I was interested in becoming a student advisor in order to give the board an insight into what goes on in the day-to-day life of an RB student. I wanted to make sure I could help voice any concerns that the student body wanted to address in order to make a large change for the school and community as well.

What are you most looking forward to in this role?
I am most looking forward to being able to work with the board to let student's voices be heard. I hope to use this opportunity as a way to connect more with the students at RB across all levels by going to different clubs, sports events, meetings, etc.
