Dr. Kevin Skinkis Named 2025 Superintendent of Distinction

Riverside Brookfield High School District 208 Superintendent Dr. Kevin Skinkis was named the 2025 Superintendent of Distinction by his colleagues in the West Cook Region of the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA).

Superintendents of Distinction are selected by their peers in the 21 different IASA regions based on leadership, communication, professionalism, and community involvement. Dr. Skinkis, who was appointed superintendent of District 208 in 2011, will be honored by the IASA at an awards ceremony in May.

"I am honored to be named the 2025 IASA Superintendent of Distinction for West Cook County,” said Skinkis. “I am truly humbled by this recognition, especially knowing it comes from my colleagues across West Cook. The accomplishments of District 208 would not be possible without the dedication and collaboration of our students, staff, administration, and Board of Education. I am grateful to be part of such an incredible community.”

Under Dr. Skinkis’s leadership, District 208 has celebrated many accomplishments. Most recently, in 2023 and 2024, Riverside Brookfield High School (RB) received an "Exemplary" designation from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), placing it among the top 10% of schools in the state. The high school also earned the College Board’s AP Gold Honor Roll distinction for expanding student access to Advanced Placement courses. In partnership with the teachers’ association, a peer observation model was adopted and approved in the last contract negotiation, reinvigorating teaching and collaboration across the district. Additionally, Dr. Skinkis has worked closely with the staff and Board of Education to expand career pathway opportunities for students by hosting an annual trades and career fair, increasing dual credit and dual enrollment offerings, and helping to establish a pre-apprenticeship training program with the Plumbers Local Union 130.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, we are extremely proud of Dr. Skinkis for being named the 2025 Superintendent of Distinction,” said District 208 Board of Education President Deanna Zalas. “His leadership has driven numerous successes in District 208, and we look forward to continuing our work together to build on these accomplishments for the benefit of our students, staff, and community.”
